Lea Salonga received heartwarming messages from her son, Nic Chien, and her mother, Ligaya Salonga, after achieving another career milestone with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
On Instagram, the Broadway icon shared a video featuring congratulatory messages from her family, friends, and collaborators in the industry as they celebrated her latest achievement.
"Probably the last Walk of Fame post I’ll make! To the friends and loves that sent videos (most notably my mom and Nic Chien), thank you!!! A tad overwhelmed, most definitely overstimulated, but deeply grateful!" Lea wrote in her post.
In the video, Nic expressed how proud he was of his mother and the singer's accomplishment.
"Hi mama! First of all, yehey, congratulations!" he said. "I'm really happy that you are my mom. You deserve this so much. I am proud that you are my mom. You are one of the most talented, wonderful, incredible people I know in my life. I love you so much. I am so proud of you."
Ligaya also shared a heartfelt message for her daughter, saying: "Congrats, congrats. You did it again. I'm one proud mom."
During her speech at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on September 4 (US time), Lea reflected on the many people who have helped shape and support her career throughout the years.
"There's something funny about a star like this because there's only room for one name, mine. But no career is ever the work of just one person. So, if they make this one star big enough, there will be a lot of other names on it. My family, first and foremost," she highlighted.
The Broadway star then paid a heartfelt tribute to her mother, Ligaya, whom she credited as one of the driving forces behind her career from the very beginning.
"[She] was there from the very beginning, using her hard-earned money to record my first album. She loaded pressed vinyls into our family car and went door-to-door to stores back home selling copies. She was my manager for decades, my champion, my whole life. None of this happens without her," she remarked.

She also acknowledged her brother, Gerard Salonga, whom she described as “my first duet partner, my favorite accompanist, and the finest musician I know.”
Lea likewise dedicated part of her speech to her son, Nic, who has begun carving out his own path in the entertainment industry.
"My son, who is back east, having just started his own journey into the world of acting and entertainment. He is an inspiration, the bravest person I ever met, my proudest production today and always," she stated.
Lea went on to recognize the many people who have contributed to her decades-long career, from her family and collaborators to the audiences who have continued to support her work through the years.
