Domhnall Gleeson opened up about his experience starring in the music video for Taylor Swift’s “Opalite.”
The actor shared that the unexpected opportunity began during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, where he jokingly expressed his interest in being part of one of the global pop star's music videos.
"I was on the Graham Norton Show and all the amazing actors were on there and Taylor was on and I just made a sort of a joke. She mentioned the music video, and I sort made a joke like I'm available to work and then she took all of us and put us all on the video," he relayed in an interview on Magic Radio.
The actor shared that just two weeks after their appearance on the show, he received an email about the project.
Domhnall also recounted what it was like working with Taylor on the music video, saying that she encouraged him to simply embrace the experience.
"She's like, 'When we go for this, we go.' And that's why she's so amazing on what she does. I was worried about the dance and she was like, 'Forget all that when we go... you go, and you feel the joy,'" he shared.
He was also full of praise for Taylor's directing style and the team behind the music video.
"It was so clearly her territory. She was so clearly the director. And we shot on film. I haven't shot in film in years and years. The Director of Photography was [Martin] Scorsese's Director of Photography. It was the best of the best making this sort of ‘90s [video]. It was crazy and amazing. I mean, what an experience. I was so happy," he remarked.
The music video was shot by acclaimed Director of Photography Rodrigo Prieto, a frequent collaborator of Martin Scorsese.

Despite initially feeling nervous about joining the project, Domhnall said he was ultimately glad that he took the opportunity.
"I was so nervous. I was like, 'Maybe I shouldn't do this, and it's not really what I do.' And I am so happy I did it and just saying yes is the right answer to most things," he highlighted.
