Vice Ganda took the opportunity to deliver a message to Generation Z during his performance at the opening ceremony of the UAAP Season 89 on September 12.
During his performance of “All I Do Is Win,” the Kapamilya star reflected on how Far Eastern University, where he studied Political Science.
Looking back on his journey, Vice encouraged the Gen Zs to fight for their own chance to succeed, stressing that creating a society where young people can thrive also depends on choosing the right leaders.
"It is very important that we exist in an environment that allows us to win kaya naman ang hamon ko sa inyo, ipanalo ninyo ang lipunang magbibigay sa inyo ng disenting pamumuhay at kalayaang magtagumpay," he remarked.
The It's Showtime host highlighted the importance of electing leaders who will protect the people’s welfare and opportunities for a better future.
"At mangyayari lamang 'yan kapag naipanalo ninyo ang mga lider na hindi kayo nanakawan, at gagawin kayong bobo, at ilulubog ang inyong dangal at pag-asa sa baha. Kaya naman Gen Zs, I challenge you to fight, show up, and win no matter what!" he added.
Speaking with the media after his performance, Vice explained the reason behind weaving a social message into his number.
He said the occasion gave him a timely opportunity to address young people and encourage them to become more engaged with issues affecting society.
“I felt like it was the perfect moment to do it. Perfect audience, perfect target audience, perfect target listener, perfect occasion. So I didn’t want to waste that chance. Since you said nga na PolSci student ako, kailangan bigyan natin ng glimpse kung ano pinag-aralan ko sa FEU,” he stated as previously reported by ABS-CBN News.
He added: “Sila 'yun eh. Sila 'yung tina-target natin ngayon na mga tao na gusto natin ma-inspire sa mga puwede natin sabihin at makasama sa kung ano mga gusto nating pagbabagong mangyari ngayon sa bansang ito. Sila talaga 'yung game changers. Kaya y'ung message na 'yun talaga, swak sa kanila,” Vice added.
