Barbie Forteza opened up about her non-negotiable when it comes to love.
PUSH ABS-CBN got to talk with Barbie during the exclusive block screening of her latest film Saving Cherry, organized by Avignon Clinic and Travertine Longevity Clinic on Saturday, September 12, at the EDSA Shangri-La Mall.
In the film, Barbie plays Cherry, a woman whose husband cheats on her on their wedding night. With the topic of non-negotiables coming up in the film, PUSH ABS-CBN asked Barbie what hers is in real life.
“My non-negotiable? Basta ‘pag hindi nila napapadali ‘yung buhay ko. Basta ‘pag hindi ako natatrato ng tama, okay na yan. Sige, go ka na. Let go na kita,” she said.
“Ako kasi, ako ‘yung tipo ng tao, ng babae, na alam ko na kaya ko naman pasayahin ‘yung sarili ko. Kaya ko mag-provide for myself. And so I guess, if I would be in a relationship, it is something I want to be in,” she said.
She acknowledged that relationships require compromise, but emphasized that there are limits to what she is willing to accept. “And para sa akin, I would compromise, of course, kasi commitment ‘yun. But I will never settle.”
Also starring in Saving Cherry are Mika Salamanca, AC Bonifacio, Sassa Gurl, and Mikee Quintos, who play Cherry’s close friends in the film.
According to Barbie, their friendship continued even after they wrapped filming. She shared that they sometimes spend time together at Mikee’s home to catch up away from work.
“Yes, we do. Sometimes after ng shoot or ng photoshoot, dumidiretso kami sa bahay ni Mikee. Tinutuloy namin doon ng chikahan. Kasi syempre sa work, di kami makapagchikahan, diba? So, mas ‘yun. Basta we always make sure na meron kaming time together outside work,” she said.
Barbie also talked about the dynamic among the group, noting how each of her co-stars brings a different personality and energy to their friendship.
“Iba-iba eh. Iba-iba sila ng ugali. Iba-iba sila ng level of energy. Lalo si AC, siya ‘yung may pinakamataas na energy kasi siya yung pinakabata sa amin,” she said.
She described Mikee as the one who brings wisdom to the group, while Sassa is known for her witty one-liners. “I guess, ‘yung wisdom ay ‘yung manggagaling kay Mikee. And ‘yung mga one-liner na sobrang nakakapagpatawa sa aming lahat, si Sassa.”
Meanwhile, Barbie said Mika brings grace and support to their group. “And ‘yung grace and ‘yung support nanggagaling kay Mika. So, ang ganda. Ang ganda ng dynamic naming magkakaibigan kasi todo supporta sa isa't isa. Iniintindi ‘yung amats ng bawat isa.”
Saving Cherry is currently showing in cinemas nationwide.
