Aside from being part of the iWant dark comedy-drama series Miss Behave, JC Alcantara also has his hands full this year with an exciting lineup of projects, like the upcoming sexy comedy film Saving Cherry, where he gets to play a very different kind of role.

“My name is Josh dito and surprise yung character ko. Yun yung aabangan niyo (laughs). Malayo ito sa mga character ko before,” he told the press at the Saving Cherry grand media con, admitting he wasn’t allowed to disclose more about his character during the presscon held earlier this month at Gateway cinema in Quezon City.

The Regal Films project also marks JC’s first foray into doing comedy on the big screen, a milestone for the 26-year-old actor who first started his career in the limelight as a commercial model before he joined Star Magic in 2019. His first big acting break was in the BL series Hello Stranger in 2020 opposite Tony Labrusca, followed by a movie adaptation in 2021.

“Parang first comedy ko ata ito. Sobrang hirap. Iba kasi ‘yung character ko eh. So sobrang na-challenge ako.

With the film dealing with issues of love, relationships, JC revealed another side of himself when asked what the craziest thing he has done was for the sake of love after his past relationship ended.

So hindi ko naman masisisi sarili ko but at least naka-move on din ako after,” he shared.

In Saving Cherry, JC gets reunited with former co-star Barbie Forteza who he first worked with in the psychological horror film P77 (Penthouse 77) last year. He also got the chance to get to know his other new co-stars like Sassa Gurl..

Sobrang saya,” he said.

Ibibigay niya sayo ‘yung character mo, ‘yung kabatuhan mo. Hindi puwedeng siya lang ‘yung aangat.  Basta lahat tayo dito pantay-pantay. ‘Yun ‘yung na-appreciate ko kay Barbie since before pa sa P77. Kaya sobrang saya ko ulit maka-work siya,” he added.

Saving Cherry stars Barbie Forteza, Mika Salamanca, Mikee Quintos, AC Bonifacio, Sassa Gurl, JC Alcantara, and Khalil Ramos. Directed by Ivan Andrew Payawal under Regal Films. The movie opens exclusively in cinemas nationwide on September 2, 2026.
