Alex Eala opened up about how she manages her earnings and approaches her finances as her tennis career continues to grow.
In an interview with Forbes, the Filipina tennis star shared that she has already made an investment while also making it a point to save a significant portion of her earnings.
"I've bought property. I treat my friends a lot to dinners and things like that. But I do save a lot," she shared.
Despite her growing success, Alex said she tries not to focus too heavily on money, explaining that she does not want financial considerations to affect her development as an athlete.
"I try not to think too much about money because then I don't also want it to get in the way of my progression as a player," she pointed out.
When asked whether having greater financial resources has made navigating the professional tennis circuit easier, Alex acknowledged that it has helped, particularly given the expenses involved in traveling with a team.
"For one, tennis is super financially demanding to bring your whole team. And I think it it also helps to make the experience of your team more comfortable. So, let's say, business class flights, you know, especially when we're taking these super long hauls or or nicer hotels and things like that. So, it definitely does help," she said.
Alex also shared that she relies on a trusted team to help her make financial and business decisions. The tennis star added that she takes a long-term approach when choosing the brands she works with.
"I have a good team around me and people who I trust to help me make these sorts of decisions and second, I think my whole mindset is to kind of invest in my future. When I choose to work with brands, what values do they have? What do they represent, and is that going to look good in the long term? Do they back me? Do they trust my tennis? Do they trust who I am, my process?" she said.
