British media executive and former editor-in-chief of American Vogue Anna Wintour took notice of Filipino tennis superstar Alex Eala. In a brief interview at the US Open earlier this week, the fashion icon shared how the Filipino athlete is interested in fashion as well.
Anna was spotted at the US Open earlier this week where she watched the exhibition match of tennis legend Roger Federer against another former world number one, Andy Roddick. Alex was also part of the crowd, seated beside ATP players Casper Ruud and Felix Auger Aliassime.

Anna expressed how fashion is being incorporated in sports–– citing Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka as some of the examples of players who show off their fashion style in and out of the court.
“I think it’s really interesting especially when you look at players. Obviously like Serena or Naomi who really embrace fashion and express themselves with it,” Anna said.
The fashion legend then expressed how she took notice of Alex and the fashion sense she has–– how much she’s willing to learn as well.
“We had the young Filipino star, you know, you could see even in such a young star how interested she is in fashion. How she wants to learn about it and follow it and I think it’s great,” she expressed.
“It’s wonderful how sports and fashion have become this wonderful sort of marriage,” she ended.

Fans of Alex were quick to listen to the praise of the former editor-in-chief of American Vogue and expressed how hopeful they are that the tennis star could work with Anna one day. Other netizens also shared some of their favorite kits of Alex during the 2026 season.

Meanwhile, Alex is making her final preparations for the singles draw of the US Open where she will be seeded once more. She played alongside Felix earlier this week for the Mixed Doubles event of the tournament where they lost in straight sets against tennis couple Gaël Monfils and Elina Svitolina, 4-1, 4-1.
