Kapamilya actor and host Brent Manalo shared his thoughts on the Pax Silica project which has been a hot issue on social media recently. The Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition Kapamilya Big Winner maintained his position on the issue as he explained the possible negative effects it can have for the farmers among other risks.

In his X (formerly Twitter) account, he expressed how Tarlac–– the possible hub of the said project–– can face a problem if Pax Silica becomes a reality.
“NO TO PAX SILICA,” he asserted.
“Tarlac heavily relies on agriculture for its sustenance and marami sa magsasaka namin ang posibleng marelocate at mawalan ng kabuhayan dahil dito. And this is just one of the many risks it poses. The 1.6k hectare AI-hub promises to be innovative but at what cost,” he maintained.
Brent also made sure to give light about the issue on the recent episode of It’s Showtime’s Miss Q&A segment.
“Sa mga di pa nakakaalam–– marami pa ang hindi nakakaalam niyan Meme yung nangyayari ngayon. Yung Pax Silica na 1,600 hectares of land ang makakamkam if ever man na matuloy yung proyekto na to sa Tarlac which is ang [hometown] namin ni Kuya Ion,” he shared on the noontime variety program.

The contestant of Miss Q&A, who works as a scientist, also shed light on the possible implications of the AI-hub to the ecosystem in Tarlac.
“Kasi Meme, madidisplace yung mga plants doon, yung ecosystem magkakaroon ng changes at dahil sa Pax Silica na yun, magkakaroon ng genetic bottleneck. Yung genetic bottleneck doon nagkakaroon ng changes in the frequency of the alleles,” the contestant shared.
Fans of the actor-host expressed their support and admiration for him in the comment section of his post. Other netizens applauded Brent for standing up and making his own opinion about the controversial issue.
The Pax Silica project has been a point of concern by several environmental advocates and other groups. The project is part of the international Pax Silica Initiative and is set to occupy around 1,600 hectares of land in New Clark City.
