Kapamilya actress Awra Briguela expressed her disappointment as she publicly called out a netizen who turned out to be a professor from one of the universities in Manila. In her Facebook post, she shared a screenshot of the rude remark that was commented under an article about her.

Disgusted with the words thrown to her, Awra made sure to share on her personal Facebook account how “degrading and transphobic” the remark was.
“He commented “Ay babaeng may burat” on a public post about me a degrading and transphobic remark that no educator should ever say to anyone, especially knowing that I am also a student,” she wrote.
She then went on to share how educators shouldn’t be commenting something rude especially on social media as they serve as “role models” and are called upon to maintain safe spaces for all students.
“As a professor, you are expected to uphold professionalism, respect, and basic human decency. Educators should serve as role models and create safe spaces for students, not contribute to online bullying, humiliation, and discrimination,” she expressed.
“What he did was completely unacceptable and disappointing coming from someone in a position of authority,” she added.
Awra then revealed that she has received several messages coming from former students of the said professor and how he’s like with them as well. She claimed that his comment towards her wasn’t an “isolated incident” due to the negative experiences students have allegedly shared to her.

“Because of this, I am now considering formally reporting the matter to the Universidad De Manila administration and gathering statements from individuals who may have also experienced inappropriate treatment from him. Accountability is important, especially for people entrusted to educate and influence students,” she revealed.
For Awra, no matter what the person identifies as, dignity must be upheld at all times, especially by educators.
“Respect should never depend on gender identity, appearance, or personal opinions. Everyone deserves dignity, and no professor should use their platform to publicly shame or degrade another person,” she maintained.
In a comment, she revealed that she is gathering statements and complaints as she prepares to formally file a complaint against the said professor. She urged those who were affected by his alleged behavior to come forward as well.
“This is not about hate or revenge — this is about accountability, professionalism, and making sure that students are treated with dignity and respect,” she ended.
