(UPDATED) The Alas Pilipinas Women took home a breakthrough silver medal at the 2026 SEA V Cup after outlasting Indonesia, 25-13, 23-25, 25-19, 33-31, on Sunday in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
This marked the Philippines' best result by far in the regional tourney, after a total of six bronze medals secured by the women's national team in the past.
The Filipina spikers' journey to the runner-up finish was not smooth, as they had gone winless in the first leg and lost to Thailand to open the Chiang Mai stop of the tournament.
They persevered, claiming a huge upset win over Vietnam on Saturday en route to the virtual battle for second-place against Indonesia.

Thailand had already secured the gold in the second leg.
The Indonesians proved resilient against Alas, even reaching set point at 24-22 during the final frame. But Bella Belen and Fifi Sharma rose to the occasion, firing crucial attacks and a kill block to force a 25-all count.
Eya Laure ended long rallies that put the Philippines at match point twice, 26-25 and again at 27-26, but Indonesia found the answers.
Setter Tisya Amallya Putri's gutsy drop caught the Nationals off-guard, as an off-the-block hit on Laure sent Indonesia to set point once more at 29-28.
Belen and Alyssa Solomon came through this time, as the opposite spiker's long shot went in, and Belen's off-the-block hit knotted the match at 30-apiece.
The Indonesians reached set point for the last time after a Chelsa Berliana Nurtomo quick hit, 30-31.
Alas Women took the next three points off another Solomon hit, Sharma's kill block on Ersandrina Devega, and the game-ending attack error from the same Indonesian hitter to close out the match in two hours and five minutes.
Solomon, Leg 1 Best Opposite Spiker, led the Alas scoring with 19 attack points, while Belen and Laure had a total of 17 markers each.
Dell Palomata's net defense was superb as well, gaining six kill blocks en route to a nine-point total. Jia de Guzman, who orchestrated the Filipino offense, had 27 excellent sets, tallied four points on three attacks and one block.
