MANILA – Shaina Nitura has been making a name for herself over the past year.
Nitura, captain of the Adamson Lady Falcons, is now the holder of four records in the UAAP in just her rookie year, including the most points scored in a season, surpassing Alyssa Valdez's previous feat.
And it didn't stop there.
The 20-year-old Nitura continued her impressive year by joining Alas Pilipinas, making waves on the international stage during the 2025 AVC Women's Nations Cup and helping the national team clinch second place.

Her sister Judiel, who is with Letran in the NCAA, couldn't be more prouder.
"Siyempre sobrang proud kasi nararating niya 'yung gusto niyang mangyari sa career niya. Isang factor na rin kasi na simula pa lang nung nag-start siyang mag-volleyball, gusto niya na rin talaga makasama sa national team, so nangyari," said Judiel during the press conference of 2025 Shakey’s Super League (SSL) Preseason Unity Cup on Wednesday.

Judiel called her sister the "Star ng Pasko," a reference to a song produced by ABS-CBN Star Music, as she lauded the Lady Falcon's recent achievements.
"Sa UAAP pa lang, nakagawa na siya ng [pangalan]. Although may name na siya, nakatatak na sa mga tao, pero mas lalo siyang tumatak kasi siya talaga 'yung star eh, star ng Pasko, emz," said the Letran pride.
"Siya talaga 'yung naging buhay sa Adamson. Maraming nag-adjust, maraming in-adjust para sa kanya at sobrang laking tuwa talaga na kasama niya 'yung mga matataas sa larangan ng volleyball."
The elder Nitura added how she pushes, literally and figuratively, her younger sister through constant communication.
"Siguro kahit wala namang salita pero madalas kasi akong nagcha-chat sa kanya lalo ‘pag may game. Big factor na rin 'yung mag-memessage kami sa isa’t isa. Parang nakakalakas din talaga ng loob lalo and mas lalong mapu-push sa laro dahil nandun 'yung bawat isa sa amin eh."
They have a chance to face each other in the upcoming Shakey's tilt, but Adamson and Letran are not bracketed with each other.
