MANILA -- Alex Eala is now bound for New York for the prestigious US Open.

In an Instagram Story she posted Saturday, Eala took a selfie with caption, "Coming for you NY".

Eala seeks a deep run in the tournament which now brags a $108-million prize fund (around P6.68 billion) — the richest purse in all Grand Slam history.

Players that will suffer early exits will still get a bigger payday as those eliminated in the opening round will walk away with $140,000 (P8.6 million), a jump of $30,000 or 27 percent from last year's figure.

The current World No. 20 is continuing her North American swing in the US, where she made Philippine tennis history with her maiden WTA title — the DC Open.

Eala has had enough rest after a Round of 16 exit at the Canadian Open, losing to Belinda Bencic, 4-6, 0-6, and a Round of 32 elimination at the Cincinnati Open after getting outlasted by Amanda Anisimova, 6-4, 4-6, 2-6.

When she was in the juniors level, she won the US Open, beating Lucie Havlickova in the finale in 2022.

She is expected to earn a seeding as the World No. 20 women's tennis player.
