MANILA — Double Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo was one of the attendees of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday at the Batasang Pambansa.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Yulo said that he was honored to be part of Marcos’ audience, as the "Golden Boy" shared some snaps of his experience where he took photos with House Speaker Bojie Dy of Isabela, as well as Senator Risa Hontiveros.
“Isang karangalan po ang makadalo sa State of the Nation Address (SONA) ngayong taon,” said Yulo.
In the same post, the Yulo called for further support for athletes as Marcos himself acknowledged the importance of sports in health and fitness of Filipinos.
“Nakakatuwa pong marinig ang pagbibigay kahalagahan sa sports at sa mga atletang Pilipino,” said Yulo.

“Sana po ay magpatuloy ang suporta sa pagpapaunlad ng sports sa ating bansa, para po mas marami pang kabataan ang mahikayat na mangarap, magsumikap, at ipakita ang ating talento,” added the gymnastics star.
Marcos, in his SONA, took notice once more of tennis ace Alex Eala’s achievements on the global stage and how she could inspire people. He also hoped that the country’s football teams would achieve greater heights.

“Sa nag-uumapaw nating suporta kay Alex Eala, sana ay marami ang ma-engganyo para matuto at maglaro hindi lamang ng tennis, kundi ng iba pang sport,” Marcos said.
"Sa halimbawa ng Filipinas women's football team, sana rin ay mas sumikat pa ang football sa ating bansa at marami ang maglaro," the chief executive also said.
