MANILA — University of Santo Tomas is not bowing out just yet.
After a shock loss in Game 1, the Growling Tigresses came back with a vengeance, overpowering National University, 90-75, in the UAAP Season 88 women's basketball Finals on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Haydee Ong's wards set the tone early with guns blazing from the get-go, uncorking a 20-5 run.
It was all UST since then, as they pulled away further in the third frame with a 27-13 output, and the cushion even ballooned to 31 points, 87-56, in the fourth frame.

A balanced attack paved the way to that dominant Game 2 win, with Karylle Sierba leading the charge, firing 17 points and acquiring five rebounds. Brig Santos delivered 15 points and made the plays with seven assists, as Rachelle Ambos had 13 markers.
Coi Danganan had 11 points and three steals, while Kent Pastrana and Oma Oniawa had eight points each.
"Gaya nung sinabi ko last game namin, we [shied] away from our identity. We did not run. We did not play our defense. Ngayon, it's a total team effort," said coach Ong.
"The first group set the tone. We have relentless defense from the start until the end of the game. I think that set the tone for us," Ong added.

On the other hand, Elite Team member Tin Cayabyab had 22 points, while newly minted season MVP Ann Pingol was held to eight points.
Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday, December 14, at the same Pasay venue.
