NCAA postpones Sunday games due to Typhoon Uwan

Photo by Angela Davocol/NCAA Philippines.MANILA — The NCAA Season 101 men’s basketball double-header on Sunday, November 9, is postponed as the country anticipates the onslaught of Typhoon Uwan.

“A new schedule for the affected game will be announced once conditions permit and coordination,” the NCAA wrote in an announcement.

The league was supposed to feature the clash between Mapua University and Arellano University at 12:00 p.m., and College of Saint Benilde and Emilio Aguinaldo College at 2:30 p.m. at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

These will now be moved to a yet-to-be announced date as state weather bureau PAGASA noted that Uwan is expected to intensify up to super typhoon strength by late Saturday or early Sunday.

Also postponed are the juniors basketball games of the aforementioned respective schools, as well as the Season 101 chess tournament games.

According to PAGASA’s latest weather bulletin, Uwan has rapidly intensified in the last 24 hours over the Philippine Sea, east of Eastern Visayas.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 has been raised over several areas in Luzon and Visayas due to Uwan, while Metro Manila is currently at Signal No.1.
