MANILA — The UAAP handed University of the East (UE) guard Wello Lingolingo a three-game suspension after his unsportsmanlike foul in their eventual loss to De La Salle University, 110-111, on Wednesday in the collegiate men's basketball tournament.
Lingolingo dove for the ball but landed on the right knee of Kean Baclaan — despite the officials already called jump ball. The action eventually resulted to the La Salle standout's MCL tear, and is out for the rest of Season 88.

The league called it as "excessive and forceful contact."
"Upon review, it was determined that the foul involved excessive and forceful contact made by a player in an attempt to play the ball or an opponent," basketball commissioner Jai Reyes said.

Lingolingo will be sitting out starting Sunday, October 19, against Far Eastern University, and will continue to serve his suspension for the first two games of the second round.
The league said that the school can still motion for reconsideration on its decision to suspend the Red Warrior.
