UAAP: Torres, Medina lead the way as Adamson dominates UE

Photo from UAAP Media. MANILA — Adamson University spoiled the second-half fight back of University of the East en route to a 77-62 victory in UAAP Season 88 on Saturday at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.

Ray Allen Torres caught fire with 16 points on three-of-six shooting from beyond the arc, while also solid was Earl Medina who finished with 15 markers, six rebounds, and two assists.

After seeing their 45-25 halftime lead erased in the third following a 33-12 surge from the Red Warriors, the Soaring Falcons retaliated by scoring nine straight for a 64-58 advantage with eight minutes left in the game.

A Thirdy Malaga with 5:53 left on the game clock stopped the bleeding for UE, but that turned out to be their first and only field goal in the entire fourth quarter.

Adding salt to the Red Warriors’ wounds, Ced Manzano and Manu Anabo fired one three-pointer each to reestablish a 16-point lead for the San Marcelino-based team.

Manzano added nine markers as Adamson marked their second win in six games, while Anabo listed seven.

On the other hand, John Abate finished with 17 points and seven rebounds while DJ Robles followed with 14, but UE fell to its fifth straight loss in as many games this year.
