MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. advised the public to remain calm and vigilant ahead of the looming impact of potential super typhoon Uwan.
In a statement Saturday, November 8, the president urged residents to prepare and follow safety instructions from local authorities.
“Sumunod sa mga abiso ng inyong LGU at agad lumikas kung kayo ay nakatira sa delikadong lugar. Ihanda ang inyong mga pangunahing pangangailangan at manatiling nakatutok sa mga opisyal na anunsyo,” he said.

“Magkaisa tayo. Ang bawat segundo ay mahalaga (Let's work together. Every second counts),” Marcos Jr. noted.
The chief executive also assured that the government is on top of the situation and that all national agencies are now on full alert.

“Naka-full alert ang lahat ng ahensya ng pamahalaan at agad kumilos upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng ating mga kababayan,” he said.
He said transportation agencies have deployed buses and trucks to help with evacuation while the uniformed services and first responders have rescue equipment, boats and relief goods on standby in areas forecast to be hit hard by the typhoon.
All toll fees for emergency convoy and responders have been suspended while a special lane has been designated to assure quick response to high-risk areas.
“Binuksan din ng ilang mall at gusali ang kanilang mga parking areas para magamit ng mga residente sa mga lugar na madalas bahain,” the president noted.
