MANILA -- Mika Salamanca, one-half of "Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition" winning duo, has added another feather to her cap as she launched her first children's book.
In a social media post, her talent management Sparkle uploaded photos taken from the book launch of "Lipad" written by Salamanca.
According to Salamanca, the book is inspired by her own story as she hopes to encourage readers to cultivate not only courage but self-love.
"Sobrang excited po ako na basahin sa inyo ang librong ito. Laman po ito ng puso ko. Masasabi ko lang po sabay-sabay tayo lumipad ngayong gabi," said Salamanca.
During the event, Salamanca turned emotional as she was about to finish reading her book, which follows the story of Mahika, a fairy who has small wings.
"Ito po sobrang close sa heart ko kasi si Mahika ay ako po. ...Mahika is me, ako po talaga siya, kabuuan siya nang pinagdaanan ko simula pagkabata," said Salamanca about her book, which is about accepting and celebrating each individual's uniqueness.
"'Yung (maliit) na pakpak po, isa lang po 'yan sa struggles na napagdaanan ko. Insecurities isa po talaga yung height sa appearance 'yun lang po talaga. Ang pinaka-insecurity ko ay hindi kami magkakasama ng pamilya ko," she said.
When assked to whom she wants to dedicate her book, Salamanca said: "Gusto ko po itong ide-dedicate sa lahat ng taong takot sumubok. Kasi it's really us who cage ourselves because of our insecurities. Minsan or madalas tayo mismo ang naglilimita sa sarili natin, sa kung ano ang pwede nating marating or ano ang makita natin sa mundo. Gusto ko itong ide-dedicate sa kanila na hindi sila mag-isa. Na huwag silang matakot lumipad kasi sa paglipad nila never silang mag-iisa as long as mayroon silang mga tao na nakasama sa mundo," Salamanca said.
The content creator-actress and her final duo Kapamilya star Brent Manalo made history early this month as first duo winners of "PBB Celebrity Collab Edition," the historic collaboration between ABS-CBN and GMA. They won the hit reality show after garnering the highest votes with 33.03% of the total combined votes. Manalo and Salamanca won the grand prize of ₱1 million each.
Salamanca is also set to release her album with Star Music.
