While "Pinoy Big Brother" has changed many people's lives and brought them instant fame, it's also worth discussing how the hit reality show has influenced celebrities' concepts of beauty.

Consider an always-glammed-up celebrity whose image is built around beauty and glam entering the iconic “PBB” house. So, what comes next? Deglamorized. Bared.

This discussion is particularly relevant for AZ Martinez, who competed in beauty pageants prior to joining the hit reality show.

When Martinez was competing in pageants, her idea of beauty was near to perfection — a perfectly contoured face, red pouted lips, and airbrushed skin. Everything changed the moment she stepped into the “PBB” house.

Martinez told ABS-CBN News, “Before getting into showbiz, I participated in pageants. So, ‘yung concept ko ng beauty was like ‘yung sobrang plakado, sobrang ayos.”

Revealing that there was pressure to always look good and meet beauty standards when she first started in showbiz, Martinez continued, “Before, I would say there was pressure nung bago pa ako sa industry.”

“Insecure talaga ako. ‘Yung insecurities ko before, more on questions sa sarili ko on what I can do. Ayaw ko ‘yung ganda-ganda lang. I want to do something more. ‘Yung gusto ko, may substance at may ambag ako, na may magagawa ako, na makikilala ako na hindi lang [dahil] maganda. Mayroon siyang magagawa na hindi lang puro ganda,” she added.

Martinez then discussed how joining the popular reality show influenced her perception of beauty, stating that there is confidence in embracing "natural beauty."

“Pero nung pumasok kasi ako sa ‘PBB,’ nakita na ako ng mga tao na nakaganoon lang ako sa couch. Hindi naka-makeup. ‘Yung bagong gising. So ngayon, wala na masyadong pressure kasi nakita nila ako na ganoon sa ‘PBB.’ It's like them seeing me also, but now in the outside world,” she shared with ABS-CBN News.

Embracing natural beauty, she added, “And now, I'm leaning more towards the natural, leaning more towards the bare face, or like kung naka-makeup man, ‘yung glowing lang na very simple look lang. I want to focus more on natural beauty. So more into ‘light-light’ po talaga. So that's why sobrang sipag din po talaga ako sa skincare.”

In relation to skincare, Martinez recently inked a deal with SCD, a skincare company established by Filipina businesswoman Gracee Angeles.

Angeles stated that one of the reasons she chose Martinez as a celebrity endorser for her company was the influence of the show "PBB." She also stated that Martinez possesses an inner radiance in addition to her physical beauty.

“What we appreciate about AZ is that, despite her current popularity, she stays humble. She represents grace and confidence, making her an ideal endorser for our lotion. Her admirers will be more excited once we go on mall visits,” Angeles said.

Martinez, who is now back outside promoting SCD's peeling lotion, new shows, and mall tours, expressed gratitude for all of her blessings.

“Sobrang at peace na talaga ako ngayon. Sobrang present ako with what's happening. Before kasi, over-thinker ako. Ngayon, may peace of mind na. I am so happy na may mga taong nakakita ng kakayahan ko, substance ko (as a person), and I'm really grateful for that. I’m grateful sa PBB,” Martinez ended.
