It is the first of many planned gatherings under The Queer Table, which aims to offer a seat to anyone seeking connection, warmth, and belonging.
The Queer Table is founded by queer women in their 30s. The idea for the mixer began after the group’s founders met at a Deep Cards event and connected over a shared desire to meet new people in ways that felt intentional and welcoming.
“We figured Pride Month would be the perfect time to host something like this,” says Dawn Torralba, one of The Queer Table’s founding members,
“We wanted to offer a space where queer women in their 30s could meet potential dates or new friends through real conversations — not small talk.”
Designed with care and curiosity in mind, the event reimagines the typical speed dating format. Instead of time-pressured introductions, participants move through guided conversations using Deep Cards prompts that invite openness and reflection.
“We also wanted to move away from the traditional format of speed dating,” Torralba adds/ “Our setup is more relaxed. The questions are crafted to encourage fun but meaningful dialogue.”
