John Jerricho Ponce
The brother of actor Jerome Ponce is hoping to win the Mister Grand Philippines 2024 title.
John Jerricho Ponce is one of this year's candidates, representing Antipolo.
During the pageant's press presentation, Jerricho was requested to send a message to his neighbors in Antipolo who were affected by flooding and landslides caused by tropical storm Enteng.
"Thank you for being resilient kasi hindi lang naman ito ang bagyo na na-experience natin. Tuloy pa rin tayo. We're still covering. Binabaha tayo. Nasiraan tayo ng bahay. But we stood up," he said.
Jerricho is studying tourism with hopes of becoming a flight attendant. In addition to modeling, hosting, and acting, he works as a live seller on TikTok.
As he prepares for the coronation night, the 5'11 Mister Grand Philippines candidate understands that he needs to improve his interpersonal abilities. He stated that one of the reasons he participates in pageants is to overcome stage fear and improve his social skills.
Jerricho, the middle child of three boys and three girls, explained that he grew up with his older siblings already in the spotlight, so he became accustomed to being on the sidelines.
He said he wants to shine a spotlight on working students who grind hard every day to get a degree and fulfill their dreams.
Meanwhile, special awards were also announced during the Mister Grand Philippines press presentation at Viva Cafe in Quezon City. The myDentist Clinic Media Choice awards went to Aaron Paul Francisco (Malolos, Bulacan), Jonathan Perez (Bulacan Province), and Jonas Harina (Quezon Province).
Dale Danielle Fisher (Australia Fil Comm), Mark Joseph Macalintal (Caloocan), Sandy "Zandro" Sales Jr. (Mandaluyong City), Albert Decio (Marikina City), Jonathan Perez (Bulacan Province), Kim Cenia (Cebu), John Jerricho Ponce (Antipolo, Rizal), and John Denmark Tomelden (Quezon City), on the other hand, were honored as the “Smiles of the Night.”
The grand coronation night will take place on October 25 at Metrotent in Ortigas.
