MANILA -- Getting back on track together. This was how the celebrity couple Juancho Triviño and Joyce Pring described their decision to resume their active lifestyle.
The celebrity couple is among the stars who will attend the first-ever J.CO Run in the Philippines as the donut chain marks its12th anniversary in the Philippines.
According to Pring, the celebration is very timely as they are now in their running era.
"Sobrang timely rin kasi we're on our running era so we're very excited about it," she said in an interview.
"Before when I was single, I was more on triathlon, pero nag-stop talaga siya because of the pandemic, and I had kids back-to-back. Pero naumpisahan ko ulit kasi I made a promise to myself this year na I need to start my health journey again. So for my birthday this year, tumakbo ako ng 5K so doon nag-ignite lahat again," she added.
For Triviño, having his wife in the field is a different kind of experience.
"It's fun and exciting kapag may accountability ka na kasama (laughs). So if we can do it, we do it together. Less boring siyempre, at the same time nakakapag-date na rin kami," he added.
Engaging in running, the two noted the benefits of having an active lifestyle, especially for couples like them.
"Better mental health definitely for me. My mental health has improved, especially my mood. It improved a lot and it has helped me balance my moods and it just kind of confidence in my body that you're strong for me at the end of the day. 'Yun ang gusto ko. I think about my strength as a mom and I think about my agility and kung kaya ko bang buhatin at tumakbo with my kids. That's what important for me," Pring said.
"For me, cardio and mental health but most especially for me, I get to eat without guilt after," Triviño added in jest.
The first-ever J.Co Run will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds on November 10.
The J.CO Run has been running for six years in Indonesia, before it kicks off here in the Philippines.
Hoping to replicate the same level of success and deliver a meticulously organized race, J.CO has partnered with Runrio Events Inc.
Participants can choose between 3K, 5K, and 12K distances -- with the 12K added specially to commemorate J.CO’s 12th anniversary.
Registered runners will receive a race kit that includes a J.CO running shirt, race BIB number, J.CO tote bag, donuts, iced lemon tea, and exclusive finisher medals.
