Alden Richards on “Gandang Gabi Vice” gave us ‘range.’ His easy rapport with host Vice Ganda made the good vibes come naturally, and at the same time, he got real about love and revelations we don’t normally hear from him in interviews.

In an exclusive chat with ABS-CBN Studios before and after his guesting, he told us more about finally getting his “GGV” moment and why he felt comfortable enough to let his guard down with the Unkabogable Superstar.

Believe it or not, appearing on "GGV" was actually a dream come true for Alden, who calls himself a longtime “GGV” enjoyer. He’s been watching clips from the show. If you need more proof,  just ask him about the episodes he remembers most. He didn't even have to dig deep into his memory, saying John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo’s guesting from 2017 still lives rent-free in his head, thanks to the never-been-heard revelations that came out and the stars’ priceless reactions.

Before facing Meme on the "GGV" hot seat, Alden admitted that he was feeling a mix of emotions. A fan of Vice’s humor and unique interview style, Alden thought appearing on “GGV” would be impossible because they belonged to different networks at the time. Fast-forward to today, and not only did he make it happen, but he did so as the comeback season’s first visitor. “I would like to talk to Ms. Vice in a serious tone, so I think this is my chance,” he said before the cameras started rolling.

The 'Pambansang Bae' was also excited to meet Vice’s co-hosts Verna Periwinkle and Divine Tetay, especially Verna, whom he loved watching in “It’s Showtime’s” Breaking Muse segment.

If Alden was so thrilled before the taping, his post-"GGV" feels were even bigger. A few hours later, he called the experience “life-changing.” And the best part of it was just letting loose. “I could be myself. For the whole episode, walang filter,” he shared.

That freedom to be himself also gave him a new ‘core memory’ with Meme Vice, and that is being able to open up to her "kasi walang judgment... so hindi ko iniisip kung huhusgahan niya ba ako when I say these words... that's why it hit so different." He realized that sometimes it’s easier to pour your heart out to someone you don’t regularly encounter in your everyday life.

Alden was also surprised by the minimal structure that goes into a "GGV" episode. While certain segments are planned, he observed how free-flowing the actual conversations could get. “Baka isipin kasi ng audience, lahat scripted at lahat pinlano,” he said. “Well, some aspects of it, but the real meat of the show is really the unstructured moments.”

And if given the chance to swap roles with Vice, he already knows what he’d ask her, "Bakit ka pa nandito sa industriya? Aside from making people happy, what makes you stay?"
