Sports newscaster Migs Bustos was named the "Kapamilya Deal Or No Deal" August 22 celebrity player after the Lucky Wheel landed on his assigned briefcase, number 19.In a fun-filled introduction video, Migs shared how his experience as a basketball coach for elementary and high school teams eventually led to a broadcasting opportunity at ABS-CBN Sports and Action. Currently, the DZMM host works alongside esteemed journalist Kara David on “May Puhunan: Kaya Mo!” while also handling the “Uso at Bago” segment on “TV Patrol.”

Despite the frequent reshuffling of the Lucky Stars’ briefcases, Migs managed to hold on to the coveted ₱1 million jackpot three times, earning him the title of this season’s “Charmel,” recalling the iconic 26K briefcase girl from Kris Aquino’s era who was known for her luck in holding the game show’s biggest prizes.

When asked about his plans for the ₱1 million cash prize, the celebrity player expressed his support for charity runners and their heartfelt advocacy of helping people in need. With this goal in mind, Migs ultimately decided to stick with his original briefcase and let fate determine the course of his game.

In a fortunate turn of events, the journalist enjoyed a promising opening round after eliminating the ₱25, ₱50, ₱100, and ₱300 amounts from the money board. However, after opening the ₱250,000 briefcase in the same round, Migs received an initial Banker’s offer of only ₱76,000, which he confidently declined.

He started the second round with a six-digit setback after saying goodbye to ₱125,000. However, he quickly bounced back when it seemed like his game was heading south, even avoiding the fate of going home as a “Pisonaryo” after locating the ₱1 inside seasoned actor Jeffry Santos’ briefcase.

After a lucky streak of briefcases containing ₱5, ₱500, ₱1,000, and ₱5,000, Migs encountered another six-digit amount when Kim Rodriguez revealed ₱150,000. Although he managed to find the ₱10 and ₱100,000 cash prizes along the way, Migs eventually lost the ₱1 million jackpot after opening Emilio Daez’s briefcase, leaving ₱500,000 as the highest amount on the money board at that point in the game.

With only ₱200 and ₱500,000 left on the money board after discovering the ₱400 in the final round, Migs knew he had to play smart and make a practical decision. He ultimately accepted the Banker’s final offer of ₱188,000.

With no regrets, Migs later discovered that his chosen briefcase contained only ₱200. Reflecting on his experience, he thanked the Lord and the show for the amount he won, saying, “Magandang episode, pero moreso na matutulungan natin ‘yung mga talagang nasa puso natin.”
