Raise your hand if you've been looking forward to the "You Gotta Lyric" round as much as "Laro Laro Pick" itself.
"It's Showtime" viewers have been tuning in more excited than ever for “Laro Laro Pick,” the segment where groups of players from different categories battle through fun challenges for a shot at the jackpot. Much of this excitement comes from its revamped song-guessing round, “You Gotta Lyric,” where the hosts act out scenes using the lyrics of the mystery song as dialogue.
And of course, the biggest scene-stealer in the 'act-song' portion is none other than Vice Ganda, who comes up with a new character every time. Let's rewind her top funniest skits as compiled by Kapamilya Update.
Just on her first day as part of the 'cast,' Vice already brought her brand of unscripted comedy when she had Ryan Bang and Jackie Gonzaga retake the performance because the two apparently forgot what they rehearsed, and then jokingly talked to the viewers, "Actually, taping 'to! Napapanood n'yo lang nang live!"
We love it more when Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, and Jhong Hilario join her in a scene because it's giving all-star comedy crossover. And because the "Quadro" is famous for their physical hosting, they unlocked 'physical acting' too. There was a scene where Vice and Anne role-played siblings quarreling over some jealousy issues, and then Vhong and Jhong rushed in to 'gang up' on Vice, who repeatedly said the 'bugbugan' wasn't part of the script.
Vice was also hilariously outnumbered in another skit where she played the 'kontrabida' mother-in-law to Vhong. After getting roasted by Vice's annoying lines, Vhong got his savage revenge by calling her "kabayo" until the other hosts, yep, including her 'babe,' Ion Prez, started chanting "kabayo" too.
If there was an award for Best Improvised Special Effects, this war scene complete with cinematic color grading and all, would've won. As the hosts pretended to fend off an enemy attack, nobody saw it coming when Meme pulled out a bottle of powder from her 'bayong' and blasted everyone's faces like it was a grenade. The surprise 'pasabog' and the hosts' impromptu reaction made this feel like a chaotic comedy blockbuster.
And then the Unkabogable Superstar had dual roles as both actor and 'prop' in another episode where she pretended to be a life-sized doll. Vhong and Jhong had way too much fun trolling the 'toy.' They spun the chair she was standing on, pretending she was a ballerina doll. So unserious! The guys then decided to 'split' the doll between themselves by each grabbing one of her legs as they carried her off together.
No, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you—"Princess Sarah" really did get a noontime TV remake treatment! In another sequence inspired by the iconic children's series, Vice introduced herself as Vice Sarah, joined by Jhong as Miss Minchin, Vhong as Lavinia, Lassy and Becky, Jugs Jugueta as Ermengarde, and Ogie Alcasid dressed as Lottie. The story ended with Sarah escaping the cruel Miss Minchin alongside Peter C., played by Ion, before Jhong grabbed a dipper and splashed his co-hosts with water. So. Much. Happened.
In “You Gotta Lyric,” the real plot twist is whatever cinematic universe Vice and the hosts create next. See you in the sequel, Madlang People!
