Whenever the Star Magical Prom makes its grand return, the much-anticipated promposals are never far behind. These creative and heartfelt gestures have become one of the event’s biggest highlights, giving our favorite Star Magic young artists the chance to ask each other to be their prom date in the most unexpected, clever, and kilig-filled ways—moments that fans can’t help but gush over.
For his Star Magical Prom debut, Joaquin Arce made hearts flutter by inviting none other than his closest friend—and the other half of LelQuin—Lella Ford to be his date. Fans first witnessed Joaquin and Lella’s special bond in “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0,” where their genuine friendship and natural chemistry quickly endeared themselves to viewers. With every interaction feeling effortlessly authentic, it didn’t take long for fans to start shipping the pair and rooting for their blossoming connection.
True to his charm, Joaquin pulled off his promposal in a way that was sweet, simple, and sincere. For his invitation to Lella, he went the extra mile by booking an entire movie theater and staging a special film screening just for her. “I’ve been planning this for a while. Sobrang kabado ako ngayon,” Joaquin quipped, admitting how nervous he was.
While Lella thought it was simply another casual day spent with friends, a heartfelt surprise was waiting for her inside the cinema.
Determined to make the moment unforgettable, Joaquin carefully planned every detail with the help of the production team. He even prepared a customized clapperboard bearing the words, “Will you be my prom date?” which he planned to reveal to Lella at the perfect moment. To pull off the surprise, Joaquin also enlisted the help of Lella’s best friends, Chezka and Jasmine, who happily served as his accomplices.
Instead of screening an actual movie—which Lella initially expected—Joaquin had prepared a heartfelt video tribute dedicated to her. However, just as the surprise was about to unfold, a technical glitch delayed the presentation, leaving Joaquin visibly anxious and Lella wondering why the screening had yet to begin.
Fortunately, everything eventually fell into place. As the special video finally appeared on the giant screen, Lella was left both surprised and confused, trying to piece together what was happening. Moments later, Joaquin stepped forward with a bouquet of flowers and his promposal sign in hand, finally asking the question he had been waiting to say: would she be his prom date?
Without a moment’s hesitation, Lella said yes, prompting Joaquin to pull her into a tight embrace. As if the heartfelt moment wasn’t enough, the video concluded with the words, “She said yes… it’s a date,” perfectly sealing the kilig-filled promposal that had fans swooning.
