American rapper Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, shared a letter that the late Dolly Parton wrote to him several years ago. In his social media accounts, the Mockingbird hitmaker revealed how they’ve never personally met each other but that she had a huge impact in his life.

Dolly’s death was announced earlier this week by his family to the shock of millions of her fans worldwide. She was 80 years old at the time of her passing.

In his post, Eminem expressed how much of an icon Dolly has been despite the different genres they perform. He shared a screenshot of the heartwarming letter of the late music legend that was sent to him following his induction at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame back in 2022.

“I'm sorry we never got a chance to meet, but getting this note from Dolly really had an impact on me. She definitely didn't have to take the time to do it.  Even for a kid who mostly listened to rap music, she was an icon. A superstar in every sense. Rest easy Dolly. And thank you for the kind words,” Eminem wrote.

The late “Jolene” hitmaker shared in her letter to the American rapper how she always felt some connection to him despite them having never met in the past. She complimented him as well for his successful career and the music that he makes.

“Even though I don’t know a lot about rap music, I’ve come to know that you are the very best at it,” Dolly wrote.

“Aside from that I hope what I have to say will not seem weird or strange to you but I have always felt some unexplained connection to you like I know you somehow,” she added.

While Dolly was hopeful they’d meet in the future after she wrote her letter, the two never had the chance to do so. Despite this, she maintained how inspirational Eminem has been for his fans around the world and hopes that he continues making music.

“I had hoped to meet you at the show but you know how nuts those things are, personally I hate ‘em and I missed my chance but maybe someday we’ll meet. In the meantime, keep doing what you’re doing because you do it so well and no matter how complex your world may be just know you are very special and touch people in ways you don’t even know,” she ended.

Eminem was just one of the many celebrities that penned a tribute to the late music legend.

Prior to her passing, Dolly had a successful career in the entertainment industry that spanned six decades. Dubbed as the Queen of Country Music, the late icon will forever be remembered through the hundreds of songs that she created.
