Hilary Duff is making her return to music.
The singer-actress has signed with Atlantic Records ahead of the release of her highly anticipated new album. This marks her first full-length record since Breathe In. Breathe Out., which dropped in 2015.
In addition to the album, Hilary will star in an upcoming docuseries that "will chronicle Duff’s long-awaited musical return and personal journey, offering an unfiltered vignette into Hilary’s world," according to a report by PEOPLE as per press release.
The docuseries will also share a glimpse of her "ups, downs, and everything in between [and] fans will ride shotgun as she balances raising a family, recording new music, live show rehearsals, and preparing to perform on stage for the first time in over a decade."
The docuseries will be directed by Sam Wrench, known for his work on concert films and music documentaries.
On her Instagram page on Tuesday, September 9, Hilary shared a snapshot of her working in the studio as she teased her return to music.
"New music… or something 🪩✨🍒," she wrote.
Fans online were quick to react to her post.
"This is what dreams are made of," one fan commented.
"Oh we are SO back!!" another fan wrote.
Prior to the announcement that she was going to drop a new album, the singer took to social media to look back on her journey in the music industry.
"Clearly I had to go digging around the internet for pictures from this time as I’m not sure camera phones even existed. Sadly all my hairstyles ARE very documented," she wrote as she shared photos when she released her first self-titled album.
"I do know this marker of time was a huge change in my being. I was embarking on something I had no idea would make such an impact on peoples lives, and mine. As much as I look back and think this album doesn’t hold the emotional depth I look for today, I know my 14/15 year old self meant every word. It sure as hell also landed on people at the right moment in time and set me off on a pretty epic adventure," she said.
She went on: "I remember some of my first shows being in a skate park in San Jose, and very shortly after, stepping out on stage in arenas. Yesterday marked the 22nd anniversary of Metamorphosis… Although these are distant memories for me, thank you for showing up the way that you did. To be continued."
