James Reid reflected on what being rich truly means to him, saying that wealth is measured not only by what a person has, but also by what they are able to give.
In an interview with content creator Jomari Angeles, James distinguished material wealth from inner wealth.
"There's material wealth, and there's inner wealth. And I think that being rich is just not about how much that you have, it's about how much you can give," he explained.
The actor and musician also referenced a Harvard study on happiness, which highlighted the importance of meaningful relationships.
"There was a Harvard study over 80 years and following a group of people, and they were surprised that the number one factor for long life and happiness was good relationships. Having warm relationships in your life. So, having good relationships, I think, is probably the number one factor," he relayed.
When asked how he arrived at his personal definition of being rich, James said the realization came while he was writing his song "Richest Man Alive."
"It was just one of those things that I realized one day because I was writing this song, it's called 'Richest Man Alive,' and then I was just like, you know what, I am rich in life," he said.
James explained that the song was inspired by the love and fulfillment he felt in his life.
"I was just writing about the love that I felt. If you listen to the lyrics, there's just like a slow kind of me discovering that," he added.
James released "Richest Man Alive" on May 28 through Sony Music Entertainment Philippines.
"Wrote a lil' love song. Give it a listen and share it with your special person," he posted at that time on his Instagram page.
