Singer Maegan Aguilar shared that she was at a rehabilitation facility when her father, veteran singer Freddie Aguilar, passed away. In an interview with King of Talk Boy Abunda on Fast Talk, the celebrity daughter recalled the emotions she went through during those challenging moments.
Freddie passed away back in May 2025 at the age of 72 due to multiple organ failure.

“Come May, wala na. It was just a month after my birthday. Ang masakit nasa loob ako–– I can’t even go out for it,” Maegan remembered.
Maegan wasn’t allowed to leave the rehabilitation facility as the doctors feared that the death of her father could trigger a relapse, which could lead her back to her drug addiction problem. It was only a week after Freddie’s passing that she was able to visit the burial site.
“Hindi talaga for good reason, kasi talaga recipe for relapse, recipe for hysterics and everything,” she explained.
“Of course at that moment, [my] family was also fighting. Ganun naman when someone dies. Ang gulo, it was magulo so they only allowed me a week after. I was just allowed out [for] one hour lang ganyan talaga, with escort,” she revealed.
The celebrity daughter then expressed that they had patched things up before he passed away. She shared that they had a video call during her birthday and she was able to write him a letter.

“It wasn't a simple thank you and sorry. It was, 'Tay, sobrang mahal niyo pala ako the whole time. The whole time na hinayaan niyo akong magkagalit siya sa buhay ko. Kasi nagtiwala kayo na kakayanin ko. Nagtiwala kayo na I would find the right way and without you saying it, that means ganun mo ako kamahal, ganun kalaki tiwala mo sa akin.’ I said that,” she said.
Maegan then recalled how "glowing" her father was in the video call that they had and even had plans to go on a tour after she got out of the rehabilitation facility.
“The way he looked there… Parang ang liwanag ng itsura niya doon eh–– para siyang anghel. He had this smile, this aliwalas in his face, ‘Anak, I’m so happy, I love you so much. Paglabas mo, mag-US tour tayo,’” she recalled.
Maegan recently got out of the rehabilitation facility and shared some updates in the same interview. She expressed how different the second rehab was for her, as it involved more of her family and she was in the facility throughout the process.
“Just very recently, I was allowed to live on my own again by my family. These are all highlights and breakthroughs,” she expressed.
