American singer and songwriter Katy Perry expressed her frustration at the White House after her song, “Firework”, was used in a military strike video. On her X (formerly Twitter) account, the hitmaker maintained that she didn’t approve of her song being used in the video which was uploaded on TikTok.
The video has over 7.2 million views on TikTok as of writing.

In the TikTok video uploaded on White House’s official account, Katy’s hit song was playing in the background as the military struck some buildings in Iran.
“Iran has been warned,” the White House wrote in their caption.
Following the post which has been crossposted on various social media platforms, Katy expressed disappointed and asserted that she does not condone the actions shown in the video.
“I am deeply appalled and angry to see ‘Firework‘ used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes. I did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it,” she wrote.
The American singer-songwriter maintained that “Firework” was created to be an “anthem of hope” and not a tool for violence.
“I wrote this song to be an anthem of hope, healing, and inner strength for people going through their darkest personal moments. To see a message of self-worth and upliftment weaponized to soundtrack destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song stands for,” she asserted.
“My music is for bringing people together, not celebrating warfare,” she ended.

Fans of Katy have shown their support in the reply section of her post and called out the White House for using her song without her knowledge. Other netizens expressed disappointment and talked about how triggering it is to see the military strike footage on TikTok.
The White House has yet to respond to Katy as of writing.
