Kapamilya talent Karen Bordador shared with her followers on social media how she almost got scammed by a bogus buyer. The host recalled an unpleasant experience she had while using an e-commerce platform she had been using for four years.

This was the first time Karen had encountered the scam, which she fortunately didn’t fall for.

“This actually happened on the Carousell website. If you guys don’t know, I actually sell all of my hosting clothes over there after I’ve used them once, or maybe sometimes nga I don’t get to use them anymore, pero parang feeling ko hindi na bagay for me. I would sell them agad,” she shared.

Karen then shared that the bogus buyer bought a dress from her and requested that the payment be made through cash on delivery (COD), which she normally doesn’t accept. Despite the odd request, the Kapamilya talent proceeded with the transaction.

“The driver comes agad agad, and then he’s like hindi daw kumpleto yung cash ihahalf niya ng GCash yung payment. Hindi ko gets, bakit hindi binigay ng buyer yung complete amount,” she admitted.

As the driver was set to deliver the item, she received another message from the bogus buyer who wanted to purchase more dresses from her–– this time asking for money, which Karen found suspicious.

“This went on for a couple of minutes, siguro mga 30 minutes yun. Nangungulit siya na maglabas ako ng pera to send to her para makabalik na daw yung driver to pick up the additional dresses. Siyempre, hindi ako pumayag medyo weird–– parang na re-red flag na yung vibes,” she said.

Upon checking the account of the bogus buyer, she found out that it was newly created and had zero reviews–– something she considers as a red flag. Karen then received a call from the driver, who revealed that the location given to him seemed to be wrong as well.

She then got the dress back from the driver and refunded him, as she felt bad for him.

“I think I just got scammed so I allowed him to come back to me and I gave him back the money; he gave me back the dress pero ako rin yung chinarge niya for the ride kasi nga na scam siya–– naloko siya obviously and nobody’s gonna pay for his back and forth–– naawa naman ako,” she expressed.

Fortunately for Karen, she was able to report the account of the bogus buyer, which has been deactivated by the e-commerce platform. She warned other sellers to remain vigilant and to check the buyer’s profile at all times.

“The point is guys for the sellers out there, be careful of bogus buyers and look at the accounts if they’re for real. At sa mga nag sca-scam, ano ba? Kumuha nga kayo ng totoong trabaho. There are so many people out there working so hard and what are you guys doing, scamming people? Hindi magandang way to earn yan because yung pera na yan will do you wrong,” she ended.
