Kapuso hosts Joy Barcoma and Baus Rufo gave their take on how politics comes into play when it comes to their personal relationships. In an interview with King of Talk Boy Abunda on Fast Talk earlier this week, the two friends shared the importance of being aligned with their romantic partners.

Joy and Baus have been vocal on social media when it comes to injustices in the country and have encouraged their followers to speak up.

Joy shared that she will listen to her partner's opinions and try to understand where they’re coming from. At the same time, she hopes to explain her side but maintains that she will draw a line if lives are involved.

“I’m very big on conversations and I’m not one to impose kasi sa relationship. So ako, I’ll take muna kung ano yung kanyang side. I’ll try to digest and in the same way, gusto ko rin paintindi sa kanya kung bakit ganun yung take ko,” she explained.

“I don’t think it’s going to be a reason to break up with somebody unless it’s about morals, unless we’re talking about lives being lost–– doon siguro ako mag draw ng line. If it’s just politically being different, ako meron pa akong leeway to understand pero again ang understanding ko, mag stop lang siya pag buhay na ang pinag-uusapan,” she added.

Baus, on the other hand, admitted that it’s already a dealbreaker for him if their politics don’t align.

“Hard no pag magkaiba kami ng politics… I guess bago rin muna maging kami, tatanungin ko muna sino binoto mo nung huling eleksyon?” he joked.

He went on to explain how much of a factor it is in the relationship he wants to build with his significant other.

“Yung kasama mo na 'to, kasama mo sa bahay and of course balak mo kasama mo siya for the rest of your life so politics needs to be a factor in terms of how you are going to view this partner. The way they support you and your outlook in life in terms of abundance, in terms of access, in terms of justice in general, I think that is a very big deal or those are major factors I look for in a partner,” he maintained.
