KC Concepcion took to social media to greet her mother, Megastar Sharon Cuneta, and her stepfather, Senator Kiko Pangilinan, on their 30th wedding anniversary.
On her Instagram page, KC shared a series of family photos, including moments with her siblings Frankie, Miel, and Miguel Pangilinan, as she paid tribute to the couple’s decades-long relationship.
“Happy anniversary, KiWie. 30 years deserves an award, well earned!🥇 Thank you for all the love, the lessons, and for always doing your best for each other all these years. Mom and Dad, with all my love 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 @reallysharoncuneta @kiko.pangilinan,” KC wrote.
KC’s greetings came after her interview with Karmina Constantino where she opened up about navigating her place within her blended family. She shared that it took her time to fully come to terms with her situation as the daughter of Sharon and actor Gabby Concepcion.
“I would like to respect the actual families, my mom has with my Dad — I used to call him Tito Francis, but I call him Dad [now] — and my Papa and Tita Gen [Genevieve Gonzales]. I want to be sensitive about acknowledging that that’s their family now,” she said.
KC said that she sees her parents’ efforts to make her feel welcome in both of their families, but also explained that she has accepted the reality of not “belonging to either family.”
“There will always be blurred lines, but when I accepted the reality of my position and the reality of the setup, and naintindihan ko na ‘yung side ng stepparents ko na tao lang din sila,” she said.
“I’m so appreciative because it’s not about belonging and being an outsider or not; it’s just the realization, acceptance, and understanding of that world that was a breakthrough for me. I love this unique situation I’m placed in, and I hope I make it right.”
Aside from KC, Sharon and Kiko’s daughter Frankie also greeted her parents with throwback photos on their anniversary.
“sutart! (sweetheart) thirty years! (and seventeen years for mama j and popsy!)” she posted, along with a photo of Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo, who are celebrating their 17th anniversary.
In a special episode of Kiko Pangilinan’s podcast, Sharon and Kiko said that the secret of keeping their marriage alive is their way of making each other happy.
“This is what I think that keeps our marriage alive, our sense of humor. Araw-araw pinapatawa niya ako. Pagpasok niya sa house, wala na usapang trabaho unless vital. Basta tawanan kami. Ayon ang sa akin ang super important,” Sharon said. “That is a very important ingredient ng marriage.”
Kiko added that making an effort to keep their bond and relationship strong even after years is something they both cherish as a couple.
“Every day dapat you make an effort. It’s your decision to keep it alive na tuloy tuloy ang ligawan, kahit in small way,” the senator said. "Be mindful of each other’s quirks… Importante, for me yung consistency. Your mama can attest to me na kahit saan ako makapunta, I’ll buy her flowers.”
