During the reveal of Prime Video’s seven new Filipino Original series slated for release this year, one of the projects presented was the family drama series to be headlined by Sharon Cuneta and Barbie Forteza. The two stars will be working together for the first time, playing the roles of a mother and her estranged daughter, along with co-stars John Estrada and Khalil Ramos.
During the Prime Video event last April 14, Sharon shared her thoughts on being in a cast with Barbie for the first time. “Madaming young artists ng GMA-7. ang lagi kong nakikira sa social gatherings, si Barbie. Tapos we would end up talking to each other. We really enjoyed each other’s company every time. Kaya nung nalaman kong siya (makakasama ko) and this happened. It’s my second project with Prime (Video) so I’m very happy,” she said.
Honor Thy Mother marks the Megastar’s second production with Prime Video after Saving Grace in 2024.
“With Saving Grace, Dreamscape and ABS-CBN’s Saving Grace and now I’m very pleased because I think it’s the first collaboration between our mother studios, ABS-CBN and of course, GMA-7. So it’s like two families coming together and brought under one roof by Prime. So we’re very proud, very honored. I’m very honored and it’s Honor Thy Mother (laughs),” Sharon added.

Sharon also posted about her newest series on her social media account, writing, “I promised you a couple of surprises this year-here’s the first! My new drama, 'HONOR THY MOTHER' the first-ever collab between TV Giants ABS-CBN and GMA7, creative production by the one and only @dreamscapeph , brought to you by @primevideo @primevideoph !!! Honored and excited to be working soon with the lovely Ms. Barbie Forteza @barbaraforteza , my favorite movie hubby @johnestrada__ , and young heartthrob @khalilramos ! Fresh from her film Until She Remembers with Charo Santos and Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo, Barbie shared how blessed she feels to be given the chance to work with another of the country’s top actresses.
“Grabe, this is big companies coming together for this massive or some might call it, mega project (laughs). Hindi ba? It’s a mega family drama and this is my first time working with Dreamscape, oh my gosh! An ABS-CBN TV production and collaboration with my home network GMA in partnership with Prime Video. So grabe, ang lalaking kumpanya nagsama-sama para sa proyektong ito to give this very great project,” she admitted.
Aside Honor Thy Mother, Prime Video’s seven new Filipino Original series also includes the return of LOL: Last One Laughing Philippines Season 2, and The Silent Noise, Love Is Never Gone, The Loyalty Game, Kopino, and Behind Closed Doors.
