Rufa Mae Quinto took part in the viral 2016 throwback trend earlier this week, using the moment to look back on a year that held deep meaning for her and her family. For the actress and comedienne, 2016 was a time she described as the “happiest year” of her life, shared with her late husband, Trevor Magallanes.
On Instagram, Rufa Mae posted a carousel of throwback photos taken a decade ago, featuring moments with Trevor that ranged from casual selfies and date nights to TV guestings and gym sessions. The collection also captured milestones from that year, when they got married and later found out she was pregnant with their daughter, Athena.
Alongside the photos, Rufa Mae reflected on what made 2016 so special.
“Happiest Year 2016 is the happiest year ever in my llife !
I met my husband, I got married I got pregnant 🤰 and had a baby.
I had a home and family in the USA , 🇺🇸
#the rest is history!” she wrote in the caption.
Rufa Mae and Trevor tied the knot in 2016 and welcomed Athena the following year. In July 2025, Rufa Mae shared the heartbreaking news of Trevor’s passing. She later clarified that his death was due to natural causes and not the result of foul play or suicide.
Following her 2016 throwback post, messages of support and admiration quickly filled the comments section. Many fans and friends praised Rufa Mae for her strength, especially as she continues to raise their daughter months after losing her husband.

Earlier this week, the actress also marked what would have been her 10th wedding anniversary with Trevor. In another Instagram post, she looked back on their life together, recalling how they chose to be hands-on parents to Athena.
“Ang mga larawang ito ay ang memories kung Paano ko po pinanganak, at inalagaan si Athena, hands on and Wala po kami yaya, kami lang mag asawa ang nag Alaga, nagpalaki, hands on parents kami,” she shared.
“Kaya Naninibago pa ako mag - artista ng Todo ulit, naging ordinary person lang ako sa America pinaka maganda at masaya na naganap sa buhay ko, maging Ina,” she added.
As she honored their anniversary, Rufa Mae expressed her gratitude to Trevor for the life they built together. “Salamat sa panghabang buhay na Ikaw, Trev! Mula sa tummy ko siya inalagaan ko ng mabuti dala na din ng sobrang pagmamahal natin.”
She also recalled how quickly their relationship turned into marriage. “Happy anniversary! Naging kami po January 9, 2016 bago ako umuwi sa (Pinas) pero bumalik din ako ng ng January 13, 2016 sa America para mag pa kasal at di na po kami naghiwalay mula noon,” she shared, adding that everything felt light, easy, and natural for them.
Ending her message, Rufa Mae reflected on how Trevor continues to live on through their daughter.
“Salamat for giving me Athena, kitang kita ko ang Lahat ng Ikaw sa kanyang mga mata, ugali, tawa, mukha, smile, magsalita, kamay, Boses, kuko, lahat na,” she wrote.
She added that while they miss him, they believe he continues to watch over them, guiding her as she raises Athena with love and hope for the future.
